Memory Foam Tips

Memory Foam Buying Guide in a Nutshell

There are many factors one must consider before purchasing their memory foam, as this is not something that will come cheaply and it will also be an investment you hope will not need to be made again for at least a further 15 years.

So you have been looking around for your memory foam and are a little baffled by all the things you need to consider before you make your purchase of a lifetime, well here is a memory foam buying guide in a nutshell.

You need to consider the density and the depth of your memory foam, check out what the retailer is offering in terms of density, though there is no exact answer to what you will require as everyone is different, do not be misguided that the higher the density, the better the quality this is a misconception for many retailers to over-charge you on the price, most consumers prefer a medium density.

Another important factor is price, with memory foam still an expensive purchase you want to make sure you are getting quality, if the price seems like a dream then it probably is. Though you can get a good price on the market now with many retailers offering memory foam, make sure that they quality check their memory foam and try to avoid non brand names.

Finally, make sure that no matter what and where you are purchasing your memory foam that they can provide a warranty for your purchase and a good retailer will even offer a free trial period, memory foam is great for millions of consumers but there will always be some that will find it not so great for them.

So here it is, your memory foam buying guide in a nutshell, most importantly remember to use your common sense when you are trying to find the best retailer for your memory foam.

5 out of 5 stars Super Comfy! Please Read: Smell Removal Tips!   May 10, 2010

SO I purchased this bed over a week ago and I love it! I have a bad back and finally got rid of my old spring mattress and got this one after reading about how this type of mattress is comfy!

Here is some tips to do if you purchase this mattress:

1st: Open the mattress as soon as you get it and let it deflate to it's original size!

2nd: Take off the zippered cover that is on the mattress and wash it by itself. From other memory foam mattress purchase reviews I noticed everyone said the smell lingered too long. I took off the zippered cover right away which I noticed contained a lot of the smell. Once i washed it, the smell was gone! I did have to wash it 2x but it does the trick!

3rd: I used Baking Soda sprinkled on top of the mattress the 1st night to absorb the smell then vacuumed it off.

4th: Use dryer sheets laid out on top of the mattress after you vacuum up the baking soda and let them stay on for a couple of days. The dryer sheets will absorb the chemical smell and also make your mattress smell better! I left my on for 3 days and it worked perfectly! No more chemical smell!

I wanted to share these tips so that everyone can enjoy their mattress when they purchase it and get a good nights sleep!

I am definitely enjoying a super comfy bed!

The mattress shipped sealed in a air and watertight black bag, around the size of a large water heater.

Once opened, it quickly spread out to its full size. Despite my preparation to "de-scent" the mattress based on reviews, it did not need it. There was a faint chemical smell if you pressed your nose into the mattress, but it was not stinking up the room.

We did need to make a plywood platform for the mattress since our bed frame has slats on the bottom and would probably cause the mattress to sqeeze through the slats. I bought two 4'x8' sheets of 3/8" plywood and cut them to size (around $50 total investment), or you can probably buy some pre-made.

It took some getting used to, but the comfort of the mattress is excellent. I dont know what the difference is between this and the brand name mattresses, but it cant be worth the price difference.

5 out of 5 stars Sleeper Hold   August 30, 2010

Good sleeper. I think the 12" would have been the same exact feel since the bottom layers are of regular foam construction. It takes some getting used to, but it is all good now.

It did have an odor, but it faded in a day or two with a fan blowing on it and fresh air in the room. Washing the cover might be a good idea to attempt removing the source of the smell. (flame retardant?)

The construction is such that there are numerous tunnels both horizontally and vertically to bring air throughout the mattress. My greatest fear of having a "hot" mattress was unfounded.

Excellent product!

5 out of 5 stars Solid Mattress for solid sleep   August 30, 2010

You can't beat this product in comfort, quality, or price. The good reviews of this product are true and accurate,so there is very little that I can add, except it is the finest mattress I have ever slept on. It beats the spring, water and air without question not too hot nor too cold and holds firm at all pressure points,in short it has your number before you lie on it.
